About Simon
I am currently in my second year at the University of Auckland studying towards a Bachelor of Engineering degree. I graduated from Westlake Boys High School in 2024, attaining excellence endorsements in NCEA levels 1, 2, and 3. I was also named 3rd in the year 13 cohort at Westlake. In 2024, I was the NZQA Scholarship Top Scholar for Chemistry and Physical Education, and I also attained scholarships in Statistics, History, and Geography which resulted in me being named as an Outstanding Scholar.

I will place emphasis on developing the ability of my student to solve problems independently while also assisting them with questions where necessary. I also believe that a focus on past paper practice for NCEA/Scholarship is critical towards both understanding content and attaining successful results. A typical lesson will run for 1 to 2 hours; however, I am happy to accommodate different lesson lengths. Although I am a recent high school graduate, I have 2 years of tutoring experience from peer tutoring at my school. I will be best suited to teach students studying NCEA levels 2 and 3 (years 12 and 13) in subjects I am confident in teaching (calculus, statistics, chemistry, and physics) and scholarship chemistry and statistics. I am also happy to teach science and mathematics to students from years 6 to 11.
I would be able to do in-person tutoring in the Glenfield area or perhaps the Central City Library once University starts again

As one of Simon's friends through high school, I can say he is extremely knowledgeable, both in general and especially regarding chemistry. With his patient demeanour, skill for breaking down complex concepts, and deep understanding of what he teaches, Simon can relate to students and help them learn and improve, which is why I recommend him as a tutor.
Simon is exceptionally knowledgeable in his fields and his endless patience makes him a wonderful tutor. Over the 3 years I've known Simon he has helped me understand many chemistry concepts that I didn't understand in class.
