About Anna

I am a postgraduate MA student at UEA. I have lived abroad for two years and I have 3 year's experience working in schools, teaching English in the classroom and doing online tutoring.
I have taught hundreds of students as an ELA (English Language Assistant) working in Germany, and I have taught various English-language books at A-Level in Germany, as well as a lot of experience teaching English as a foreign language.

About the lesson

I am extremely organised and motivated to help others succeed with their English GCSEs, A Levels or adult or casual learners of English as a foreign language. I will plan a session tailored to your needs every week and find out as much about you, your goals and your learning style as I can to help me to adapt my approach so you can get the best results. With EFL, I like to put an emphasis on speaking fluency rather than getting bogged down in the details, I believe the most important aspect of learning any language is that you feel confident in speaking it and can communicate your ideas. I could teach you the finer points of English grammar, but I doubt that would be very engaging.
With literature, from Shakespeare to modern literature, my experience as a History and Languages graduate means that I love to put works into their historical and cultural context when analysing their impact and relevance on modern audiences. I think literature is the key to our human and social history and a window into our collective consciousness.

I am almost fully flexible until the end of September, when my MA Autumn term starts. After then, my availability will be mostly evenings and weekends.

My approach to tutoring is extremely flexible- it depends on how you want to do things and how much you want to do. Different age and ability groups require completely different approaches. I am always there to listen and happy to help. Whether it's speaking, reading, listening, writing, grammar or pronunciation, I can plan and execute an appropriate course.
