It varies entirely by how I pick up on the most effective ways an individual student learns. Many benefit greatly from manipulatives. I am always encouraging. I am always happy to see the children I tutor, it makes them happier to be doing work. I try to make work seem less like “work”. I always try to incorporate fun elements into learning. I am very patient, but won’t be given the run-around. While students find me fun, there also has to be an established level of respect for the process to work.
I have worked in several schools of the Norwich Public School system and have declined to work for them any longer for actual fear of my safety - every day is chaos, and I know what your children go through in class. I know many students are neglected. I have worked mostly with special needs students in the past (k-3) but have more recently taken on the role of a Tutor (for an interventionist in the school system - outside of school hours) one day a week. I’d like to freelance. I have many resources only teachers can get. I have many manipulatives to find the best way for your child to learn any given subject. I work through all, or you can specify areas of importance. Students who need extra help, students who want to stay on track, and students who want to get a leg up. You may not see this as important at that age, but with the way the school systems are right now, I can arguably say your children are not getting anywhere near a quality education.
