I teach all ages of students. My method of teaching is to let students attempt the problems using their own knowledge before I actually teach them the material. In this way, students will learn to tackle problems on their own and overcome the fear of not knowing the answer. I structure my lessons by starting with familiar topics and using those topics to lead into unfamiliar ones.
