I received my BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, UK and my PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge. During my education I studied a range of sciences including Math, Biology, Chemistry, Genetics, Physiology, Anatomy, Cell Biology and neurobiology.
I currently teach students for AP Biology, Chemistry and Psychology 1-to-1. But I also teach SAT/ACT prep to classes of up to 30 students.
My lessons are typically engaging and center around trying to develop the strengths of each student and applying those strengths to areas they struggle. I will work with my students on problems or homework assignments and try to expand their knowledge of a given topic as we learn. To keep lessons entertaining I like to play games where the student can win prizes and I do mini-presentations where the student has to pretend that I am the student and they have to present concepts to me.
As a teacher, I am fun, engaged, smart and confident in my subject knowledge. I encourage all my students to tell me if they do not understand what I am teaching them. I like my students to feel tha learning does not have to me a stressful experience and I am there to support their learning efforts and make them feel confident that they can tackle the subject.
I have been teaching on and off for 10 years, but I have been teaching full-time for the last four years. Currently I teach three SAT classes and I have 8 students.
Overall, I have taught in excess of a hundred students,all,of different ages and abilities. For many of my students I was instrumental in ensuring they got the right grades to get into their chosen Universities/Colleges. For other children, I have improved their grades on school tests. Though, I think the most important thing I do is instill confidence in my student that they are able to tackle any challenge when it comes to working through science problems.

I needed to get my kid ready to take the SAT, he had taken it once and had done very badly so we needed to get his score up. Sarrita has been getting my kid ready for the SAT and he is doing very well in all his practice exams. I know his score will be massively improved because of Sarrita. Sarrita will create a structured plan for your kid so you know that all the material is covered. She makes a "goal list" and every lesson my kid will have to show that he has met his goals for the SAT. This really pushes him to try his best and learn the material between lessons. Sarrita's from England and I think education is done differently there because the way she teaches my son is very different to how his school does things. He tells me he wishes all his teachers were like Sarrita because then school would be easy for him. Sarrita cares about how my kid does in his SAT, she talks to him about the things he can do at college and the jobs he wants to do when he is older.
It's been a real battle to find the right tutor for my two kids. We have a son and daughter who are autistic and they have severe behavior issues. Most tutors have not lasted more than a few sessions. Sarrita has been with us for months and she's changed our lives. My kids are learning things and they can tell me the thing they've learned. My daughter couldn't count passed 12 and now she can count to beyond 100. Both kids can read to me from books; which they could never do before. I'm amazed. I wish we'd known Sarrita earlier because we would've saved a lot of stress. Sarrita can manage my kids behavior and get them to focus on work. She plays a lot of games with them so they end up learning without knowing. They love story time with her and she will even do sing-a-long songs to help them with their reading. Sarrita is a trained scientist and she uses her knowledge of neurosciences to help my kids learn.
We hired Sarrita to tutor our 15 year old son who was not doing well with his reading, math and science. We have noticed a huge change in our son's test scores and he even likes going to school now. I really like how Sarrita has built his confidence up over the last few months so he can go into tests without getting anxious. My son has ADHD and some other problems and Sarrita has always been patient and understanding of his differences. I never get the feeling Sarrita treats him like a "special needs" kid, she just treats him like a kid. My son has a new interest in science which he never showed before he started lessons with Sarrita. I feel lucky that we found Sarrita when we did. I went through so many tutors and my son could not work with them but I get the feeling Sarrita could work with any kid and help them become better at school. She never gives up working on a problem, if my son cannot understand something one way she can think of 10 other ways to explain it.
So that you know Sarrita is one of the smartest people you will meet she got her BA and PhD from Cambridge University in Britain and you can really tell. She has a great accent which your kids will find funny. She is able to make learning fun and I have seen that with my daughter who is 13. Sometimes she will bring her dog with her for tutoring sessions and my daughter loves that because it is the friendliest dog you will ever meet. Sarrita got my daughter's grades in Science and English from Cs and Ds to As and Bs. More importantly, I trust Sarrita to be around my daughter which is something that concerns all parents now. She is very conscientious and really wants to see my daughter do the best she can at school.
