University student offering middle and high school Social Studies and English class help, based in Napa!

About the lesson

My approach to teaching is centred on persistence and creative problem-solving. I believe it really important to understand that just because a subject may be challenging, being successful is not impossible! This is based in my own experience as a student as I struggled with math growing up; however, by the end of my senior year of high school, I was given the Calculus award for outstanding achievement in the class, truly demonstrating that practice makes perfect! I sincerely believe that my childhood frustration with the subject has been advantageous, as it taught me how persevere through a subject that for a long time I convinced myself I didn't like. Otherwise, am qualified to help middle and high school aged students with humanities subjects. I have enjoyed and continued to excel in these subjects at university.

About Jillian

Hi there! I have been passionate about learning for my entire life and have multiple years of experience tutoring and sitting. Indeed, when I was thirteen, one of my first jobs was helping kids with their homework after school. Currently, I am a senior at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, majoring in Medieval History and Archaeology. After I graduate, I am interested in pursuing teaching here in the USA. I am particularly adept at English and Social Studies, taking various AP and Honours classes in high school. Besides being a dedicated learner, my other interests include animals (particularly my fat cat Merlin), reading (as a Jane Austen enthusiast), and travel.
