I try to use intuition and guide students towards the answer. I avoid unnecessary memorization at all costs, understanding how things work is more important and fulfilling than memorizing the outcome, and often doesn't take much "beyond the scope of this course"! I use many analogies and examples to try to make new concepts less intimidating and confusing.
