I have taught both elementary and middle school aged children. I believe the best approach to learning is to understand the child's needs. There isn't one ingredient to success. Every child is different, therefore you can't teach to every child the same way. The next biggest thing I incorporate in my teaching is relatability. Rather than teaching as the superior, learn and grow from each other. Children are less likely to want to learn when they feel inferior. Having that connection of being partners improves the child's want to learn. Therefore the willingness the child has to learn, allows for more success.
I am a student at American University studying musical theatre. I have been in choir for over 15 years and have been taking private vocal coaching for over 4. I can understand and read basic music theory, as well as play chords on the piano.
