About Kimiko

I am a third year student at the University of Hawaii, Manoa. I have a lot of experience working with people as I have been involved in church ministry and school leadership since middle school. I love serving others and I have a specific passion for math. I took AP Calculus my senior year and received a 5 on my exam. I am now part of the University's honors program and am majoring in both Math and Psychology.

I use visuals and words to explain concepts to students. I will figure out where students are at in regards to understanding content and how they learn best. I'll encourage students whenever they do something right so they can be motivated to keep doing their best; I believe in positive reinforcement. I teach with patience, understanding, and persistence. If my initial style of teaching doesn't work for a student, I am more than willing to adapt.

Details

Depending on the student's needs, I also charge for the amount of time I spent preparing for lessons! This takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. I like to prepare slides that the student can refer to, even when I am not teaching.
