I approach my lessons with patience and attentive guidance, but I try to give the student as much control as possible. I usually begin by asking students to focus on what they know really well about the subject; they end up knowing a lot more than they had thought. I then prompt the student to ask specific questions about what they are struggling with, and we go over them one by one. While we’re reviewing the subject, I encourage my student to ask him/herself questions to encourage curiosity and self-learning. As I learn more about the student, I tailor my instruction to his/her individual needs.
I am a college student who has been tutoring for 3 years now. In high school, I worked for a tutoring center 8 hours a week, and I have had several private clients over the years. One of my majors is English, which is my strongest subject. I also have experience tutoring many areas of math, as well as science and history.
