I allow the student to first produce work according to their current abilities. This will allow me to see where the student needs the most help. I then work with them to show them where they can improve and guide them towards reaching their own potential. I engage the student by letting them get to know me and to developing an understanding of the care I take for their benefit. I want it to be exciting for them. I once had tutors myself. I think half of their effort was put into getting me to trust myself and the importance of my own thoughts. I want to be a positive influence in their lives. Giving them confidence in themselves is the most important thing I can give to them. I want them to see how they can grow.
I am a retired Attorney that is pleased to work with young minds to aid them in the development of critical thinking skills. The ability to write clearly and succinctly will improve a student's ability to express his/her thoughts which will improve grades all around. It allows a student to demonstrate their knowledge of a subject in an intelligent manner. This is a skill that will prove to benefit the student throughout their life. It helps with clear thinking and the organization of thoughts. The student will have greater influence and confidence as they see an improvement in the impact of their own thoughts and words.
