About the lesson
Listening is a part of learning, and that goes for instructors, too. I listen to the needs of my students, and then ask them questions to help them map out their issues better. From there, We focus on one need at a time; I will guide them through their difficulty with questions designed to point them in the right direction, and explanations in the form of simple, relatable analogies based on examples from their life.
Breaking down assignments into manageable chunks, figuring out precisely where the students are at, and relating the work to their own experiences helps students to learn with confidence.

Writing is both a profession and a passion of mine.
In addition to my B.A. in English Literature (With Writing Emphasis) my qualifications stem from instructional experience in a variety of settings. I've instructed children as young as three years old, teaching them how to sound out words and begin writing. I've worked with college students, helping them to polish their UC applications, refining their essays, and teaching them how to understand and analyze the work of other writers. Furthermore, I have experience with students who need special accommodations, as well as students for whom English is not the first language.
Aside from academic pursuits, I am also heavily involved in creative writing. Specializing in Fantasy/Sci-Fi I have written a number of creative pieces, some of which have been published online and in print. Throughout college, I served as Vice President of CSUSM's Creative Writing club, and I currently manage a creative writing workshop twice monthly to help others refine their prose.
Altogether, I have:
• 7+ Years of experience instructing K-College students on Reading, Writing, Critical Thinking, and Essay Writing
• Developed learning style-specific resources and individualized lesson plans to teach students in person, online, one on one, in small groups, and as a class.
• Taught students of various ages, backgrounds, and levels of ability.
• Established rapport and ongoing relationships with students, parents, and supervisors.
Perfect! Jermane is teaching my 7-year-old daughter the fundamentals of blending sounds in order to become a better reader. He is patient, soft-spoken, and adept at redirecting her when she loses focus while making it fun to learn. I would highly recommend Jermane as a tutor.

Jermane is the best teacher ever! He's very knowledgeable and explains things in simple terms. He's very patient and easy to communicate with.
Jermane has led our writing group since early 2018, tutoring four of our members in creative writing. His advice has been extremely helpful to us all. Professional yet personable, he's easy to talk to and he keeps our sessions on track. I never feel embarrassed talking to him about my issues with writing; he never makes me feel inadequate the way some teachers can. Jermane is engaging, uplifting, and his comments are spot-on. I come away from our sessions excited to work on my writing projects.
