I teach lessons that are in accordance with the Louisiana Student Standards. My lessons do cater to the individual students that I tutor in that I meet them where they are academically and we build from there.
I've generally taught inner city youth that may be several grade levels behind. I structure my lessons with a warm-up of content from a prior lesson or something that might be foundational to the current content.
After that, we get into the heart of the content for that session. Students have ample opportunities for questioning as I check for understanding.
My teaching is student centered, thereby fulfilling the needs of each student under my tutelage. I believe that "All" students have the ability to learn. With each lesson, we set out on a voyage of discovery. Each lesson may be looked upon as gates, which when opened, provide opportunities for growth.
I've taught in middle schools in Hillsborough County, Florida. I taught grades 7 and 8 from 2012-2014.
I taught grades 7th and 8th in Caddo Parish, LA from 2015-2017. ( I was "Teacher of the Year" for Oak Park Elementary Middle School.)
I did one year at Lang Middle School teaching 7th grade. Lang was part of Dallas ISD.
I returned to Caddo during the 2018-2019 school year and taught 8th grade Illustrative Math and Algebra 1. My algebra class had a 92% pass rate.
I've been tutoring since 2012, and have met students at Star Bucks, Barnes and Nobles, or the public library. I have tutored online via skype as well.
I've taught in excess of some 1400 students during my classroom experience. I've tutored in excess of 400, either after school or independently.
