I believe in helping students learn math in ways that make unique sense to them while being able to apply their learning for successful academic outcomes. I also believe in helping students learn HOW they learn. My approach is more about providing children with learning strategies and helping them with self-awareness than spoon-feeding them information. I believe this approach results in more content retention and decreased need, over time, for additional academic supports such as tutoring.
I have taught middle- and high-school math for over 13 years, and I spent 8 years as an administrator. My experience supervising teachers helped redefine my perspective on teaching and learning. I have experience teaching students who are gifted, talented, autistic, learning challenged, and those who have some combination of these traits.
Rates are negotiable for more than one child per household and for families that are interested in sharing time and expenses for the purpose of "educational pods."
