I look for student's interest and tailor my approach to apply to those interests. I like to add humor to my work to put students at ease. I give examples of tasks that I found difficult and how I managed to overcome the obstacles.
I was a National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist in high school with a combined SAT score of 1300+. My quantitative and verbal scores were virtually the same. I have a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's degree in Adult Education. I have three semesters of Calculus, two years of German and graduate course in educational statistics.
1975 – 1981
INSTRUCTOR AND FIELD PLACEMENT SUPERVISOR, WICHITA STATE UNIVERSITY
I was part of the staff of a new undergraduate program in Social Gerontology. I taught a section of the Introduction to Gerontology and arranged and supervised community placement experiences for our students. I was able to use my background in Adult Education to support the understanding of adult development and the utilization of life/work experience as a substitute for a portion of the students’ coursework.
1981 – 1989
SALES REPRESENTATIVE/REGISTERED REPRESENTATIVE, NEW YORK LIFE
I was licensed to market Life and Health insurance and Mutual funds. I ultimately determined that sales was not my strong suit left to work at Mycrotek.
1989 – 1993
I trained newsroom and classified advertising staff in the use of Mycrotek’s proprietary hardware and software. I set up workstations and installed software
1993 – 2001
TRAINER/INSTALLER, FREEDOM SYSTEM INTEGRATORS
Freedom bought Mycrotek and after a three month hiatus, I was hired to work in a position training editorial and classified advertising staff. I was part of the design effort to move from Macintosh computers and servers to Windows based PCs.
2001 – 2016
SENIOR SOFTWARE SUPPORT SPECIALIST, BRAINWORKS SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
Freedom was purchased by Brainworks and I was offered a position in the new combined company. The company experienced a period of rapid growth due to the breadth of its software offerings and continued development. I was involved in installations from Fairbanks, Alaska to Montreal, Canada to Dallas, Texas and several installations in Minnesota as well as providing phone and remote desktop support to most of our customers when I was not on the road.

I began as a mathematics major, but changed majors to English at the start of my junior year.

I found the program gave me a foundation build my skills in working with a variety of student populations in settings ranging from remedial education in rural counties to College instruction to technical training of newspaper staff at all levels.

I am an amateur musician. I enjoy reading all sorts of material. I served as Board Chairman of Senior Services, Inc. in Wichita. I currently volunteer at the Wichita Food Bank and as a reading tutor for third grade students at Cloud Elementary in Wichita.
