I let the student drive the tutoring. My main intention is to let them feel heard, and allow them to make mistakes. I often start my tutoring sessions by asking “alright, what are we doing today?” And have the student talk me through the concept they are struggling with so I can see the holes in their understanding. Throughout the lesson, I work to patch those holes for the most efficient and effective tutoring sessions.
I have tutored in math, and Spanish for the past 2 years and have taken multiple college-level math and physics courses. I have 3 years worth of paid work experience as a lifeguard and mental health/drug prevention employee as well.
Evan helped me greatly over this school year, he did a great job at the explaining the material and had a total understanding of everything that we talked about. He never made me feel like I was stupid even when I confused on the material at hand. Without him I know my grade would not be anywhere as good as it is now.
Over the years, Evan has proven to be a well-respected, dedicated tutor. Students appreciate his ability to present challenging mathematics in a way that is both fun and easy to understand. He is patient, truly cares for his students’ success and loves helping others find their way through all levels of study.
Evan is very friendly and intelligent!
