After reading this article I am more of aware of how math plays a big part in a person’s everyday lives. I am not a big fan of math and to be honest it’s my weakest subject. This article has shown me it doesn’t matter what profession you are in. You carry Math wherever you go, from cooking, shopping, buying a home, and etc. This class will definitely help me learn different mathematics terms and ways of how to make my life easier with obstacle I may face in life.
I completely agree, even down to how we subconsciously do the math when telling time. I work with it in my career granted I utilize tools such as excel spread sheets and different payroll systems however the basics of math are definitely needed especially when setting up deductions in a payroll and or HRIS database.
Yes, math is being used in everyday life ,as much as I ran from it I still have do use math in my everyday life. I didn’t realize when I was purchasing my car I had to know my math to know what my credit score about what rate I could get and purchasing my major a house what interest rate it would be how much I would have to pay back for the house loan.
Even in cooking I would have to do measurements to bake it’s math, when my children were young they would need help with the math work, the job where I work it requires me to tally up my income ,I am the owner operator of a Daycare each client has to pay me I have to add up the hours each week to total how much I will be getting paid, again math you can’t get around it. I may not be a math wiz but I do know how to keep my money ,you cannot beat me out of my money.
Growing up I didn’t think that math was being use so much I that maybe just if you were going to be a math teacher or nurse Doctor or Lawyer or something like that profession but that not true at all we all use it in everyday life whether or not your white or blue collar ,we all use it and need to use math.
I would like to learn more dimensions about math now that I know I need more than just the basics.
I enjoyed the article. It just reminded me that I do use Math in my everyday life without thinking about it. I Love to make homemade food and put my own twist on it… but Iām a little this and a little that kind of cook….But now that I think about it I do actually measure some things! Without these skills we are limited. I need to relearn my math skills so I can be up to date on many things … without relying on the I Phone. I want to remember how to do it the old way and do it the new modern way.
Reading the article made me realize that math is used in my life everyday without me realizing it. When I go to the grocery store and shop I definitely like to keep track of what I am spending. When I cook and measure the ingredients I am using math. I keep track of my money in the bank. I keep track of all my bills as I pay them. In almost every job field you are required to use math. Math is important and I need to know how to do calculations for everything. I look forward to learning in this class. I never really liked math but I realize the importance of it and I look forward to learning.
Definitely in my everyday budgeting we do it so subconsciously that it makes it easy to forget just how much math is truly in our everyday lives.
Wow! This article was a definite eye opener for me and I felt it to be totally true. I find it amazing how math is used in our everyday life and I never really gave it much thought until reading this article. Math is not my strongest subject however reading this article makes me want to learn more. I am really looking forward to learning all I can in this class especially about interest rates when buying a new car or house. I have never bought a brand new car due to not understanding anything about interest rates and how much I will be having to pay all together in the long run. I plan on purchasing my first home within the next few years so I’m sure this class will be beneficial to me because I definitely lack understanding in interest rates. I found it interesting how this article highlighted how math is used in so many different areas of our lives and different careers. I have a whole different insight regarding math and I truly believe it is important in our every day lives. I must admit, I’m a typical female shopaholic so learning more how to calculate 20% or 30% off at retail stores will really come in handy for me because I always struggle with trying to figure out how much of a discount I am getting. I can’t even imagine what this world would be like if we did not have the concepts of mathematics.
Hello after reading this article it made me realize that I should not stress out to much if I do not understand problem. Although I should not get stuck either if I need help I should ask someone without feeling the fear of being judged.
I know how you feel. I feel more comfortable asking for help
Wow, this really made me think about all of the daily applications that we take for granted that involve mathematics. Subliminally, we use math all day, everyday, to solve problems, plan ahead, etc.
Yes, I definitely think we really need math in our life. Every Chinese student knows that. When we are little kids, our parents focus on the educational of mathematics. Because they know how important it is. After we grow up and a long-term learning experience, we definitely know that not only for some academic science and for technology subjects, but also in art, humanities, Literature, etc. Even in our daily life, we cannot live without math. As my strongly math and calculate skill. When I shopping, I always could get great deal and lower price, which help me to save some money. When I do some management work in the office and home, I always could find an easier way to improve the efficacy, which could save my time. I use the money to buy some valuable things or invest. Use the extra time to relax, enjoy life and meaningful thing, like now I continually learning some new area. I remembered when I study in the university 14 years ago, I realized our brand new campus lack of store and located remoted country. Because the campus closed to the sea, it is very cold in the winter. Therefore, I think I could do some business about sale boot, scarves and woolen hats for girls. For increasing the profit, I display part of the stuff in my dormitory and invite them to come and buy. Making fliers and showing pictures to them. Finally, I earned several thousands of money in that winter.
Recently I begin to love the art and painting which make me go into a new world. As a student major in science, I think paint is very difficult to do. After self-learning, I realized that most objects could be regarded as the combination of several geometric figures. Divide the picture into proper proportions that makes you get the feeling of painting.
So you see, This is a very small part of my life about the understanding of mathematics.
I like your response. I am looking to hearing more.
Good article, simply factual to comprehend. Logical response to; why use mathematics everyday , if you dare! lol
this was a good article.
Maths is perfection. There is only one answer. I enjoyed the video and realized that I use it every day of my life. I am looking forward to the class.
Math is used everyday in life from looking at time to paying for food. Math is essential to being able to live in society.
We are all made of stars, yes maths significance is everywhere and in all of us . Cellularly, atomically, physically it seems patterns shapes and numbers follow us everywhere. Because bio physically even our brains run on rhythms, itās impossible not to look around and see this same symbiosis replicating all around us. Numerology, hermetics , astronomically, in the planets. If you donāt look at things abstractly you will see that even our search for patterns in space has a purpose. Like the Mayan temples and the invention of theā zeroā numbers are integral to understand in order to experience a human experience. Literally every single field and area in studies and profession has roots in math, I couldnāt stop reading about it. Itās almost like if you donāt have a relationship with numbers you donāt have a connection to your field . If I had to chose just one area of math it would be numerology. That way I could apply what I learn to everyday life. The rest is too wicked deep for me, sadly I pale thus far to the sight of numbers.
It seems math is everywhere especially when you are attending college for your degree. Itās been ten years since Iāve taken math Iāve been avoiding it like the plague, but since Iām here Iāll divulge some things I like about math and some I donāt .
For starters what is algebra ?? Do we need it?? What is the big mystery and quest within algebra itās baffling to me, Iāve always preferred the concept of the zero. And numerology and astronomy. To me and being of Mayan Guatemalan decent, thatās how I understand math, in a more holistic and scientific way. So whatās the deal with all these numbers, what is the big curiosity why do we study then anyway?? Math is integral to all of the fields of study and the backbone of scientific studies. Every field you will go into haas a connection to mathematics. Either that or you can find math in every field you study bc math is integral to every thing studied by design. Iām an art major but quickly innately I can tell you that math is present in all of the studies related to design⦠the golden ratio for instance is mathematical. Our brains just view math as beautiful bc of the way our brains are structured at the perfect position of the sun and moon to glean a lucid elevated experience⦠because our brains are tuned into this degree of lateral and longitudinal brain frequency we notice the other replications of math around us, rather we are designed to discover patterns and numbers in our day to day. Imagine that?
This article is an eye opener to truly be able to give a realistic and educated answer when my child is asking/stating , “really mom, when will I really use math in everyday life?” I now will be able to give more responses other than well son when your working on a home project and need to use the measure tape etc. Subconsciously we truly do use math more than we imagine, such as mileage calculations to make sure reimbursements are paid accurately and or discounts on top of discounts the clearance rack for example.
Mathematics is not just about report cards in school; it exists in every moment of life.
This article is great on because i love math.

Hello there you never think about how much Math we use in one’s everyday’s life. Reading the above articles made me stop think about it.
Hello Vessie! I’m glad you enjoyed the article. Thank you for the comment!
It is just amazing how math is applied to different aspects of our lives on a day to day basis. It is definitely great to learn more about how math impacts our lives!
yes, math is what makes up reason. Humans cannot live without math…its what separated us from monkeys…the day we counted with all our digits…
I was good at math when I was young, but as I grew older, math became increasingly difficult for me, and I gradually gave up on learning it. However, after reading this article, I gained some new insights. Math is actually closely related to the calculation of our living costs. When we receive our salary, we have to consider many issues. For example, housing and car payments, insurance expenses, daily living costs, children’s expenses, and savings for future consumption. We need to use mathematics to calculate these matters and employ mathematical thinking to maximize savings. Also the future belongs to the internet, and those with mathematical thinking and talent will find it easier to get jobs and earn high salaries. There is a saying that mastering mathematics, physics, and chemistry makes you fearless anywhere in the world. In conclusion, mathematics is very important and can have a significant impact on our lives, and mastering mathematics has many benefits for us personally.
