The CompTIA CySA+ exam costs $439 for a single voucher from the CompTIA Store. A voucher that includes one retake costs $579. Bundles that add CertMaster study tools run from $593 to $1,058.
Many guides, including CompTIA’s own blog, still quote a $425 retail price. The store charged $439 when we checked on Oct 5, 2026, so budget for the higher figure.

How Much Does Each CySA+ Option Cost?
CompTIA sells CySA+ in three ways: a voucher on its own, a voucher with a retake, or a bundle with study tools. The table below lists the US prices for every option.
Price list

| Option | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| CySA+ Voucher | $439 | One exam attempt, valid for 12 months |

| CertMaster Study | $149 | Self-paced written and video lessons |
| CertMaster Labs | $199 | Live virtual labs with guided tasks |
| CertMaster Practice | $209 | Timed practice exams and objective quizzes |

| CertMaster Perform | $718 | Full course with simulated and live virtual machine labs |
US list prices for CySA+ V4 (CS0-004) on the CompTIA Store, checked Oct 5, 2026. Vouchers must be used within 12 months of delivery. Full references in the Sources section.
Bundles cost much less than the same items bought one by one. CertMaster Learn plus a retake voucher would cost $1,178 separately, while the Learn bundle is $884. The Complete bundle’s three parts add up to $1,506, against a bundle price of $1,058.
CompTIA charges the full exam price for every attempt and offers no discount on retakes. Paying $140 more up front for Retake Assurance costs far less than a second $439 voucher.
How Can You Pay Less for the CySA+ Exam?
The list price is not the only price. CompTIA points candidates to several ways to pay less.
- Student discounts: actively registered US students can get 35% to 55% off in the CompTIA Store.
- Training and college courses: some eligible programs cover up to 100% of the voucher.
- Employer reimbursement: many employers pay for job-related certifications.
- Flash sales: CompTIA runs limited-time promotions, with discounts that vary.
Timing matters too. A voucher stays valid for 12 months and cannot be extended. It works for any version of the exam, as long as you test before it expires.
Two CySA+ exam versions overlap right now, so check which one you are studying for. The new V4 exam (CS0-004) launched on June 23, 2026. The English V3 exam (CS0-003) retires on December 22, 2026.
CySA+ vouchers must be redeemed within 12 months of delivery, and CompTIA never extends them. Buy when you are ready to commit to a study schedule, not months before.
What Is CySA+ Certification?
CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) is an intermediate, vendor-neutral certification. It shows you can detect, analyze, and respond to threats in security operations and vulnerability management roles.
CySA+ is easy to confuse with CISA, but they are different credentials. ISACA’s CISA focuses on auditing information systems, while CySA+ covers hands-on defense in a security operations center (SOC).
There’s a growing need for professionals who can quickly interpret signals, act on threats and mitigate risk in real time while leaning into AI tools to expedite detection and mitigation. CySA+ validates the hands-on capabilities analysts need in modern security operations.

CySA+ Certification Requirements
CompTIA does not require any other certification before you take CySA+. CompTIA recommends Network+, Security+, or equivalent knowledge first. It also suggests about four years of hands-on experience as a SOC analyst, incident responder, or vulnerability analyst.
CySA+ Jobs and Salary
CompTIA lists several analyst roles that CySA+ prepares you for.
- Security analyst
- Security operations center (SOC) analyst
- Vulnerability analyst
- Threat intelligence analyst
- Incident responder
Pay in this field is strong. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the median wage for information security analysts at $129,180 a year as of May 2025. It also projects 21% job growth from 2025 to 2035, much faster than average.
What Does the CySA+ Exam Cover?
The CySA+ exam has a maximum of 85 questions and lasts 165 minutes. It mixes multiple-choice items with performance-based questions, which ask you to solve problems in a simulated environment. You need a score of 750 on a scale of 100 to 900 to pass.
The chart above shows the weights for the retiring V3 exam. The V4 exam keeps the same four domains, with new weights and added coverage of AI.
- Security Operations (34%): malicious activity, SIEM and EDR tools, and threat hunting.
- Vulnerability Management (26%): scanning and risk-based prioritization.
- Incident Response and Management (24%): attack frameworks and the response process.
- Reporting and Communication (16%): reports and metrics for stakeholders.
Which CertMaster Tools Help You Prepare?
CompTIA publishes its own CySA+ study tools under the CertMaster name, listed with prices in the table above. Each suits a different stage of preparation, so most candidates need only one or two.
CertMaster Perform is the fullest option, at about 30 to 60 hours with live virtual labs. CertMaster Learn takes about 25 to 40 hours, and CertMaster Practice about 10 to 20 hours. Practice works best near the end, once you have covered the material.
How Do You Renew CySA+, and What Does It Cost?
CompTIA CySA+ stays valid for three years from the day you pass the exam. To renew it without a new exam, you earn 60 continuing education units (CEUs) during that cycle. You also pay a continuing education fee of $150 for the three-year period.
A single activity can also renew the certification, and the first two skip the CE fee.
- Pass the latest version of the CySA+ exam.
- Earn a higher-level CompTIA certification.
- Earn a qualifying non-CompTIA certification, such as ISACA’s CISA or ISC2’s CISSP, each worth 60 CEUs.
CompTIA’s quick CertMaster CE renewal course does not yet cover CySA+. It is currently available only for A+, Network+, and Security+, so plan your CEUs early.

How to Find a Tutor for the CySA+ Exam
Working one-on-one with a tutor can help you pass the CySA+ exam on your first attempt. A tutor can walk you through log analysis or vulnerability scoring at your own pace.
- Look for tutors with a current CySA+ certification and real cybersecurity experience.
- Browse qualified cybersecurity instructors on Superprof.
- Read reviews from previous students.
Questions to Ask CySA+ Instructors
A short conversation before your first session tells you a lot. These questions help you choose.
- What is your background in cybersecurity?
- How many students have you prepared for the CySA+ exam?
- How do you structure your sessions?
- Do you offer practice exams or mock tests?
