Quiz :🎤 How Much Do You Know About Eurovision?
Also known as "Eurofestival", the Eurovision Contest has come a long way since its first edition in 1956 in Lugano, Switzerland. Since then, Eurovision has been held annually, with the exception of 2020 due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of participating countries has also increased from 7 countries in the first year, to 37 in this year's competition.
Despite its name, Eurovision also features countries outside of the EU or European continent as well. In fact, all countries where public television broadcasters are associated with the European Broadcasting Union are able to participate, including countries such as Turkey, Israel, Morocco, Georgia, Azerbaijan and even Australia.
🇺🇸 Can You Watch Eurovision in the US — And Does the US Have Its Own Version
Eurovision may be a proudly European affair, but that doesn’t stop fans across the Atlantic from tuning in. Yes, you can watch Eurovision in the US — typically via streaming platforms like Peacock, or through official Eurovision YouTube broadcasts. While it airs live (often in the early afternoon US time), many fans throw themed viewing parties or catch up later to join the fun. As for an American version, the American Song Contest launched in 2022, aiming to mirror Eurovision's spirit with artists from all 50 states competing. Though it didn’t quite capture the same magic — or ratings — Eurovision remains the go-to for flamboyant performances, unpredictable voting, and pan-continental drama.
