About Yuri
Hi, I’m Yuri. I’m a film editor who believes great editing isn’t about having the fanciest software—it’s about making a story click. I earned my Master’s in Film Editing at the AFI Conservatory and have worked on real documentaries, including Chicken People on Amazon, Swagger on AppleTV+, and Luke Cage on Netflix. Over the years, I’ve learned that the best edits don’t scream “look at me”—they just make you feel something without you even noticing why. If you’re new to editing or you’ve been playing around with cuts and want to level up, I can help. I’ll show you not just how to use the tools, but how to think like an editor—when to cut, when to hold, and how to keep your audience hooked. Lessons are relaxed, practical, and tailored to what you want to make. We’ll keep it simple, have some laughs, and you’ll walk away with skills you can actually use—not just a list of hotkeys.

My background goes beyond simply “cutting footage”—I specialize in the invisible art of editing: emotional pacing, visual rhythm, and the storytelling instincts that turn raw material into something unforgettable. In our sessions, you won’t just learn which buttons to press—you’ll learn why each cut matters. Whether you’re a beginner looking to break into editing or an aspiring professional seeking advanced feedback on your own work, I’ll teach you how to think like a storyteller, not just a software user. Together, we’ll cover real-world workflows, narrative structure, and editing as a language—so you can make films that move people, not just play on a timeline.

Yuri is one of the most patient, funny, easy going and knowledgable Editors I know. He can explain anything, and he is skilled in all aspects of editing, from the technical, to effects.
