About Elijah

Music's diversity is what makes me so so passionate and excited about teaching it. Not only it improves your musical sense, but it also improves your general concentration, memory, reaction skills in your day to day life which you may find useful. It’s a win-win. At the same time, in a time where we feel that AI takes over natural human expression, it is even more vital than ever to have an escape and an emotional release. This can be through all sorts of genres such as pop, jazz, classical, reggae. Honestly, the ways we can combine music to be independent and unique are endless. Ultimately, my goal is to help you find your sound, which can be something that is incredibly powerful and special. Hope to see you soon :)

Everybody has different goals for why they want to play the piano which is what I love about doing this. For example, some may want to branch out into all sorts of music to find their individual piano style making learning  endlessly enjoyable. Others may want to try for exams so that they have a sense of step by step accomplishment which gives them the drive and motivation to keep playing piano. We're here to experiment, adapt, change and eventually see your musical expression and voice.

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

My dad made me carboard instruments when I was younger and I used to just play around with them and that was the first musical experience I had. From then on, I gained interest for piano lessons at 8 years old as well as some interest for guitar and drums however I was more drawn to the piano and since I was doing 21 hours of gymnastics on top of school I had to hold off on drums and guitar to really dive into what the piano is all about. The great thing about the piano is that it is an entire orchestra itself and the ideas when I write and play are endless.
  • Is there a particular type music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Elton John has always been an inspiration as he was also classically trained on the piano. His elegance and showmanship was also an aspect that I adored and aspire to be like in the future.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or 'riveting' lesson you could personally give to one of your students.

In music, having really specific and achievable goals in mind is one of the most important things. I know you may have heard that a million times before, but it is important to have a clear motivation in mind to bring back yourself to when things are getting tricky even when you're putting in a lot of work. Whatever the goal may be it allows you to stand your ground and finish what you have started and in the end, it is one of the most pleasing things one can experience. As a young teacher, this is one of my most important jobs for my current and future students.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

It's very subjective. You can make a sound on the piano by just pressing the keys. For violin, it can take one or two years to create that nice sound that you're looking for. On the other hand, pianists need to deal with one or two pedals at once in which violinists don't need to think about. My advice for you is to try as many things as possible no matter your age.
  • What are your keys to success?

Stay consistent, show people what you've done as an artist or whatever you aspire to be, and don't be afraid of change. These are all things that are important to think about when in the process of developing you're skill. Even once you've made it, there are always aspects of your skill to improve.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Elton John, Lang Lang, and Guy Sebastien. Elton John is the package from understanding the emotions of such high pressure, Lang Lang, who is a pianist would have so much insight to the instrument, and Guy sebastien is a story teller, a great one.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your musical journey, or your days at 'music school'.

Music you can always have in your life. For example, you can only play a sport for a specific amount of time until your body can't handle the intensity of the bodywork. With music, you can always go to the piano and play some pieces everyone will love. It's a gift not just for yourself, but to share with others.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

Understanding your personality and interests for me will determine a great part in the music that you play. If music is a hobby that allows you to relax, the we will choose pieces to match this attitude. It really all depends to the individual and is truly exciting for me as a young teacher to see how the student grows.
