  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed an interest in my chosen field of teaching and private tutoring during my undergraduate studies. As I delved deeper into the studying BSc Business Management, I discovered a passion for sharing knowledge and helping others understand complex concepts. My interest in private tutoring stemmed from a desire to provide personalised support and guidance to students, tailoring my approach to their individual learning needs and goals. Ever since, I have been supervising PhD students, Undergraduate students and Postgraduates from all around the globe. It is fantastic having such a gift of sharing knowledge.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach business management, entrepreneurship, research methods, and I particularly enjoy discussing topics related to economics, science, and problem-solving techniques with students. These topics form the foundation of my area of expertise in developing understanding and are essential for building proficiency in the subject. While I find all aspects of business fascinating, I may find some further interest in delivering English sessions or providing admission advise for business students when they require this.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

My overall academic experiences have served as a role model and inspiration for me. My lecturers dedication to teaching, passion for the subject, and ability to make complex concepts accessible greatly influenced my own teaching philosophy and approach. I strive to emulate their enthusiasm and commitment to student learning in my own practice.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

The qualities required to be a good tutor include patience, empathy, adaptability, and effective communication skills. A good tutor must be able to understand the individual learning styles and needs of their students, adapting their teaching approach accordingly. Patience and empathy are essential for supporting students through challenges and setbacks, while effective communication fosters clarity and understanding. I ensure that I provide a comfort, safe space when talking to my students. This allows them to build trust with me, which is something that makes our communication better and increases our levels of understanding each other.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One valuable anecdote from my days at school involves a challenging problem-solving task in mathematics class. Despite initially feeling overwhelmed, I persevered and eventually solved the problem with the guidance and encouragement of my teacher. This experience taught me the importance of resilience and problem-solving skills, which I now impart to my own students. The go-getter attitude comes from all the things that haven't gone too brilliant for me. Today, I am thankful for those times, as they have taught me right.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

One challenge I have faced in teaching business is addressing the diverse range of learning abilities and backgrounds among students. Some students may struggle with foundational concepts, while others may grasp advanced topics quickly. Balancing the needs of individual students within a group setting can be challenging but rewarding, requiring flexibility and differentiation in instruction. I do love a good challenge, and I like working together with the students as a team, in tackling it.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My particular passion lies in teaching and helping others unlock their potential in business management. I derive immense satisfaction from seeing my students gain confidence and proficiency in the subject, knowing that I have played a role in their academic success. Additionally, I have a passion for continuous learning and exploring new developments in entrepreneurship education and VR online learning.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

What makes me a Superprof is my dedication to providing high-quality, personalised instruction to my students. I am committed to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions, explore concepts, and achieve their academic goals. Through my enthusiasm for teaching and subject expertise, I strive to inspire a love of learning and mathematics in all of my students.
