About Grey
I am a recent graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor's degree in Art History and minors in Disability Studies and ASL & Deaf Studies. I am currently enrolled in college to pursue an American Sign Language Interpreting certificate. I have been an ASL student since 2021 and regularly meet with fluent signers to practice my skills. I am planning on taking the Texas State Certification for ASL Interpreter test in spring of 2027 (BEI Certification). I founded an ASL club on my college campus in 2023 and served as an executive officer until my graduation in 2025. I have also received an award for academic success in the study of American Sign Language twice.

Tutoring sessions with me look like:
- Beginning with a check-in about how the student feels about their class and their comfortability with signing.
- Ask if they have any specific goals for tutoring.
- Practice receptive and expressive skills with relevant vocabulary, fingerspelling, and numbers. Utilize conversation to develop skills further.
-Actively offering tips and feedback regarding technique and answering questions.
- Finishing with a check-in to see if they feel better about the subject matter, and some exercises to work on outside of class and tutoring.
I focus on using conversation rather than solely repetition to support skill development. I also tutor without speaking to provide a more immersive experience and encourage problem-solving to navigate a language barrier.
My lessons are for High School and college levels 1 and 2 ASL. I can work with higher-level students for conversational practice as well.
