About NICOLA
For many years, I photographed elite equestrian shows, honing my skills in the press room. As a former portrait photographer, I highlighted the profound connection between horse and rider in my images. This led to equestrian wall art, social documentary, creative editing/digital artworks, and fine art exhibitions. In 2023 I joined a Hawaiian/US medical team on a transformative journey to Nepal in late 2023 where I documented over 700 surgeries donated to a small village in need. I realized my superpower was connecting with people, shooting on the fly with passion and mentoring students. I love it! Running a fine art equestrian and portrait photography business over two decades I have had just about everything thrown at me. Initially self-taught until studying at CATC, Sydney in 2015, I wished I had a mentor/tutor role model when I was starting out. Even later in my career. I have a passion for photography and would love nothing more than to share it. Every creative knows you have your moments of doubt. But it's amazing how you can break through so much with a little support now and then.

I teach both beginners and experienced photographers. From shooting manually with confidence (things get interesting when you get off manual!), setting up a LR catalog for success and ease, all the technical elements such as exposure, composition, and navigating your camera when things can seem frustrating and overwhelming. I also support intermediate, more advanced photographers set up a photography business, covering everything from finding your niche, marketing, social media, contracts, portfolios, and building simple, stunning websites that attract clients. On an artistic level, I help you become a confident editor, using Adobe Suite, how to put together a powerful portfolio, photo essay or exhibition, even creative editing that can elevate your work and make incredible digital art. I can also show you how you can use a mobile phone and various apps to create something special on the fly. Nothing is off limits!
