About Lyra
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music with a concentration in violin and have taught students of various levels for over six years. My teaching experience ranges from children just starting out to adults returning to the violin after time away. I believe in patience, structure, and musical curiosity. My teaching philosophy blends technical discipline with creative freedom. I aim to help each student find their own musical voice while building a strong foundation in technique. Whether preparing for a recital, an exam, or simply playing for joy, I tailor lessons to fit personal goals and musical interests. In addition to teaching, I’ve performed in orchestras, string quartets, and chamber ensembles. These real-world experiences allow me to bring practical, performance-based knowledge to each lesson. I am passionate about helping students feel proud of their progress and confident in expressing themselves through their playing.

Beginning students are introduced to the essentials—how to hold the instrument, proper bow grip, finger placement, and posture. Lessons focus on building muscle memory and developing a clean tone. Through repetition and gentle correction, students begin to understand rhythm, play simple melodies, and read basic sheet music with confidence.
As skills develop, lessons progress into advanced scales, shifting positions, and more expressive bowing techniques. We begin working on classical etudes and performance pieces tailored to the student’s level. Focus is placed on musical phrasing, articulation, vibrato introduction, and refining listening skills for intonation accuracy.
For advanced players, lessons target performance preparation, audition pieces, and fine-tuning expressive technique. We explore interpretation of complex compositions, advanced shifting, double stops, and vibrato control. Lessons remain student-centered, aiming to nurture artistry, confidence, and a deep connection to the instrument through tailored repertoire and regular performance feedback.
