About Fiona

With 3 years of experience as a guitar tutor and a Bachelor of Music in Composition (Guitar Emphasis), I bring both academic and creative perspectives to my lessons. I also perform and compose regularly, keeping my teaching fresh and connected to the stage. My focus is on acoustic fingerstyle and classical guitar. I enjoy working with both brand-new learners and seasoned musicians. Beginners are introduced to fundamentals in a relaxed and encouraging way. Advanced students dive into arrangement, interpretation, and nuance. My teaching emphasizes music as a lifelong skill, not just a temporary pursuit. Each lesson balances technical mastery with creative exploration. I believe self-expression is as important as precision. Students are guided to discover their own voice through the instrument. Lessons are adapted to meet both technical and artistic goals. I am committed to fostering joy and artistry in every student. Together, we’ll build not only skill, but also a lifelong relationship with music.

About the lesson

I teach guitar with a focus on practical music theory. Students explore scales, modes, chord construction, and harmonic analysis. I show how these concepts work on the fretboard in real time. This approach demystifies theory and builds confidence. I work with both The Aspiring Rock Star and The Classical Purist. Rock players develop improvisation and composition skills. Classical learners gain insight into structure and interpretation. Lessons include exercises that reinforce both theory and technique. Students learn to recognize patterns and use them creatively. My goal is to make music both logical and expressive. Each lesson adapts to the learner’s level and goals. Theory becomes a tool, not a barrier. Together, we develop skill, fluency, and musical creativity.
