About Carlos
I'm currently an Assistant Research Scientist in biotech. I graduated from UC Berkeley as a community college transfer back in 2019. I majored in Microbiology and it was very difficult but also very rewarding and fascinating to say the least. I did research at Cal and was able to assist in publishing a paper on the behavior of bacteria in the presence of antibiotics. I believe the sciences hold many elusive yet beautiful mysteries that occur around us on a daily basis without us even knowing. Understanding what's taught in our science classes can provide us with a lens through which we can perceive and better understand our world. I believe learning should be an enjoyable process about discovery thought provoking material otherwise it just seems like work!

I like to gauge the type of questions students ask and determine which approach is best suited for future sessions. I like to use visuals to describe abstract concepts as well as provide a high participation based session that considers details beyond the immediate subject. Why is this important? How does this connect with the larger topics of this subject? How would you explain this to one of your peers? Lessons are mainly for students of the middle-highschool range but as a former community college student I'm offering college level tutoring as well. If you're looking to get general assistance to better understand a subject I'm happy to assist in any way I can. I believe in a safe and comfortable learning environment where no question is off the table and you are able to communicate if the style I use to tutor doesn't fit with your learning needs. That way I can adjust to better suit your needs and get to where you want to be more efficiently!
