About Maria Cristina
I am a native Minnesotan that grew up in a native Colombian home. I was fortunate enough to have been raised speaking, reading, and writing Spanish as a first language at home, while growing up speaking, reading, and writing English with my counterparts. My parents always urged great importance to upkeep and progress my Colombian roots by constantly putting me to read, write, and speak only Spanish whenever I was home.
I advanced my bilingual skills further by attending elementary school in Bogota, Colombia, acing the AP Spanish exam, tutoring students in Spanish subjects throughout high school and college, and as of recent, working for a marketing firm in Madrid, Spain fully in Spanish.
I am a recent college graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a major in marketing/business administration and have a passion to pass my bilingual abilities onto others.

The learning style I aim for is fully adapted to the student. I am a firm believer that everyone is different in how they learn and how it retains. In first meeting and getting to know the student, I can get good insight on what peaks their interest, how they listen and communicate, and what keeps them motivated. With challenging topics, especially those of foreign languages, one of the most important elements is assuring the student's mind is open and ready for learning and retention. The beauty of tutoring is being able to tap into that student's learning styles and personality, and craft a personal plan around it.
