There is a lot to think about when it comes to deciding on a future in software and web development. You know that studying these types of subjects that have anything to do with computers and technology comes with a lot of hard work and studying. You also have to consider what stage of educational development you are at. You may still be in high school which is great, as the world is still your oyster.

If you are in high school you should consider what classes you should take to prepare yourself for the future. If you are working and wondering about what you can do if you want to make a career change then still you have no problem! I won't lie, still being a student at any level would be the ideal situation. However, don't be discouraged if you are working and want to make a change in your career.

In either case, the smart thing would be to think about what college or university you would like to go to. If you are still in high school then you'll have an easier time looking for colleges as you can take the necessary classes to prepare yourself. While if you are already working you may have a tougher time trying to study with other responsibilities, but night classes do exist and so you can still study and take advantage of the top schools that we have in the United States.

If you want to transfer colleges as you have decided to change your major to software or web development/engineering you should also know what are the best colleges that you could transfer to. While it may not be exactly easy to get into these colleges, if you want to get into software or web development then you should give getting accepted a chance and do all you can to get in!

High school is obviously a really important time in our lives. There are school dances to go to, there are football games to go to or play in, and friends to make. It can be a really, really fun time for us and studying sometimes is the last thing we have in mind. However, it is very important for all of you high schoolers to make sure that you remember to study a lot and work to have the best grades possible.

Applying for colleges and universities is really competitive, and college admission boards are highly selective, especially at some of the best schools in the country. Software development and web development are becoming two extremely popular fields to work in and study. Recently software development was rated as the second-best job to have in the United States, and web development isn't a bad job either. Both jobs rake in at least seventy thousand dollars a year on average.

So if you are in high school what classes can you take to assure that you have the best chance possible to not only get into a top school for software development or development but also to do well when you get into a school.

Computer Science

Taking a normal computer science class would be the first step in beginning to understand how computer technology works. If you are a freshman or sophomore in high school then you may even be required to take it anyway, but of course, as someone interested in getting a job in software development or web development taking your first computer science class will help start you down the path towards taking a major in computer programming.

During your basic computer science class, you will start to learn some of the basic concepts of computer science and computer programming. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and how to use web browsers are what you will learn in your first year. However, nowadays for many people using the web is really simple thanks to the advances that have been made in the past 10-15 years for example with tablets like Ipads, and smartphones.

Learning to use the word, excel will be really important as a start for a career in web and software development, but also many types of jobs from accounting to economics and human resources.

Advanced Placement Computer Science

After having taken computer science and some math classes you can take an advanced placement computer science course or AP computer science. This class is a big deal, and if you can take it and do well enough you'll be well on your way to entering a software or web development program in a highly reputable school. AP classes are classes made to be done at a college level, so if you do well in your course and do well on the AP computer science exam then you can earn three college credits before even sitting in a college classroom.

So what things will you learn in an advanced placement computer science class?

Firstly there are two different types of AP Computer Science classes, there is AP Computer science and AP Computer Science principles.

In both programs, you will learn about programming, in AP Computer Science A you have to develop a program, and in principles developing a program as well as a key part to the program. Learning about other computer technology is part of the course.

Taking these courses will be a key part of applying to colleges and universities.
