About Rosa

I am a fully qualified British English Secondary School Teacher, having dedicated two years to achieve the globally recognised Initial Teacher Education status. I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications and have worked in Media for over 10 years in London and Cardiff, UK. I studied English Language at GCSE and A Level and have a 50 hour TEFL certificate. I am from the UK, but currently based in Sydney. I hold a valid NSW Working With Children Check. I love meeting new people, travel, learning about other cultures, reading, cycling, swimming and being outdoors.

About the lesson

I have taught English Language and Literature in British Secondary Schools and English as a foreign language to adults and children in the UK, Peru and Cambodia. My approach is friendly, customisable and patient - I will be led by your needs. Lessons are up to 1 hour and can be paced depending on your preference.

I really enjoy conversational sessions. I can tailor the session to talk about a particular topic or just a chance to get to know each other and practice speaking and pronunciation. As I have worked in Advertising and Media agencies for over a decade, my knowledge of corporate/business English is advanced. I am keen to support those who are intermediate English speakers who require additional support on more technical, business language. I am able to assist with business pitches, meeting preparation, presentations, emails etc.

I have experience in teaching children with additional learning needs and am able to gamify learning to engage young students who struggle to concentrate.

My background is varied across Secondary School teaching, ESL teaching, a range of ages and levels therefore I am very adaptable and I can accommodate:
- Literacy for all ages and levels
- ESL for all ages and levels
- Pronunciation support (British English)
- English conversation
- Grammar
- Vocabulary
- Corporate English support (Emails, meetings, presentations, proofreading etc)
- English games and activities for young learners or learners with additional needs
- Anything else you may need - I am happy to accommodate :)

I am passionate about the English language and love teaching others! I believe there is more to teaching than simply explaining something. It's important to understand each student, how they will best understand and remember, and to have fun with it at the same time. I'm really looking forward to working with you to understand what you want to get out of tutoring, so that I can use my wealth of teaching and mentoring skills to bring out the best in you :)
