About Auden
With 10 years of professional piano teaching experience, I’ve helped learners of all ages unlock their musical voice. My training is rooted in classical piano, but I also bring contemporary, pop, and cinematic influences into lessons. I’ve performed solo and in ensembles and coached students towards competitions, recitals, and personal musical projects. I take a structured yet flexible approach—combining scale work, ear training, and creativity into every lesson. My goal is not just to teach piano, but to nurture a long-term relationship with music. I provide detailed feedback, custom practice schedules, and resources tailored to each student's learning pace and goals. Whether you're looking to learn Beethoven or The Beatles, I’ll guide you with patience and clarity. Piano lessons in Southampton are crafted to blend strong technical skill with expressive performance. Beginners start with posture, finger placement, and keyboard orientation, progressing steadily through major and minor scales, rhythm reading, and simple melodies. We use engaging beginner-friendly methods to establish fluency in music notation, and students are introduced early to both hands coordination and dynamic control. Intermediate learners explore chord progression, pedal technique, phrasing, and more complex rhythm patterns. Classical pieces, popular arrangements, and jazz harmonies are incorporated to enhance versatility. We also begin improvisation and basic composition exercises, allowing students to stretch their creativity and personal expression. Music theory is taught alongside practical playing, giving students the tools to understand and analyse the music they perform. For advanced pianists, lessons are tailored to include expressive interpretation, advanced repertoire from Baroque to modern, sight-reading under pressure, and even accompaniment skills. We work on articulation, emotional delivery, and performance preparation. Each session challenges the student intellectually and artistically, ensuring they leave with both confidence and capability behind the keys.
