About Derek
I have had great success with helping students make sense of what they thought was foreign. Math is NOT boring with me! My students laugh while learning. In addition to my array of dad-jokes I offer an approach which helps students visualize the math concepts they study. We don't simply go through problems step by step. We discuss what is taking place within the problem and how to apply prior knowledge to find solutions. Most importantly, students work diligently with me because the work doesn't feel like drudgery.
