About Lucie

Hi, I'm Lucie and I'm in my final year of my PhD student in Politics and Philosophy at the University of Cambridge.

I graduated with a double first in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford University in 2018 and in 2020 completed a masters in Political Thought and Intellectual History at Cambridge.

I have also worked at UCL where I researched constitutional and democratic reform. I sent 2022 at Sciences Po Paris as a researcher.

I now live on a farm in Italy where my partner and I produce olive oil and run a small tourism business, but I continue to tutor students online, having done so for the past 8 years!

I studied Philosophy, Maths, History, French and Politics to A-level, receiving A*A*A*A and straight A*s at GCSE.

I`m available for the following;
- Politics, Philosophy, History, Economics and French up to A-level.
- Degree-level politics and philosophy, economics, history, and theology.
- Oxbridge application guidance including for the TSA written test, mock interview practice and essay writing skills.
- Graduate-level politics and philosophy.

Availability: Online. Very flexible with timings.

My tutoring style:

With over 8 years' experience tutoring, I have taught a wide range of number of subjects and modules covering political science, IR, political history, ethics, metaphysics, logic, epistemology and ancient philosophy, theology, biblical criticism, christian ethics, micro and macro-economics, and 17th to 20th c. political history.

I provide guidance in planning and writing essays, refining writing style and structure, exam revision and support understanding course content and readings.

I also provide longer-term support in planning and elaborating dissertation and coursework projects. I have supported a number of students throughout the process, from writing a project proposal through identifying key primary and secondary resources, to helping structure and edit the final submission.

As a native French speaker and fluent Italian speaker, I have conducted language classes with adult non-native speakers and intensive holiday prep for language, maths, and humanities GCSE and A-Level pupils.

I provide academic profile development, personal statement guidance, and advice on course and university choices for prospective university applications as well as tailored guidance for Oxbridge applicants coving college choice, to intensive interview practice, to TSA, HAT and other written exam prep. I also advise on masters and PhD applications.

Having fairly recently gone through the rigours of school and university examinations myself and with three younger siblings doing so currently, I understand how stressful this period can be for students and parents alike. I can guide your children through this time and help them work towards the top grades, but I’m also keen to instil a genuine interest in the subject – an interest often lost when learning in large classes!

I always enjoy working with younger students too and make sure I tailor my lessons so they are age-appropriate. One-on-one sessions allow much more flexibility and time to explore the fun side of learning.
