About Oliver
I am an undergraduate student with a 1st Class degree from Cambridge studying Maths and Physics. I am passionate about Maths and Physics and I love sharing that passion with anyone who will listen! With straight A* grades at GCSE, A-Levels and most recently a 1st at university, I love passing the knowledge and experience that I have gained onto other students to help them succeed.

I teach by problem solving with the ultimate goal of producing those light bulb moments where previously tricky concepts fall into place.
Every student learns differently, so every student's session will be tailored to what will work best for them. We will discuss this early on in the sessions and it gives me valuable information that I can use to plan how the sessions should be structured and what material we will cover.
During the sessions themselves, we will go over areas that the student has identified as challenging (or just wants to recap) and then work through problems to consolidate the knowledge of these areas. I believe problem solving is a more rewarding and enjoyable method to learn content as opposed to rote learning. It is important that the student guides the content of the lessons - they are after all for the students benefit!
To achieve the top A*/A grades, it is necessary to think intuitively about the problems and how to go about answering them. I often encourage this by pushing beyond the specification so that the core principles (which exam boards sometimes ignore) are comprehensively understood. Engagement is key, and I encourage the students to ask any questions they have, so that they can learn valuable lessons from discussing them. There is no such thing as a stupid question. I want my students to feel confident asking any question, even if they think that the answer may be obvious.
