About Joe
Hello! My name is Joe, and I’m a recent graduate from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, along with minors in Chemistry and Logic. As someone who is truly an academic at heart, I’m passionate about studying complex topics in both STEM and philosophy, and I love sharing that passion with others. With over 115 students tutored across engineering, math, and science subjects, I focus on creating personalized lessons that build confidence and foster critical thinking. I believe that true learning goes beyond just solving problems—it’s about developing a deeper understanding and a love for the subject. My goal is to make even the toughest topics feel accessible and engaging, so students not only master the material but also see its relevance to the world around them. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading and writing epistemology, playing chess, and spending quality time with my family and friends. These activities help me continue to grow intellectually, which, in turn, informs how I help others develop their own knowledge and problem-solving abilities. I’m excited to help you achieve your academic goals and look forward to working together to make complex topics both understandable and enjoyable.

I have experience teaching students from a wide range of academic levels, from first-year high school students to last-year undergraduates. This breadth of experience has taught me how to adjust my approach to suit each student’s learning stage, ensuring that lessons are both accessible and challenging, regardless of where they are in their academic journey.
My teaching style is adaptable and student-focused, with lessons designed to meet the specific needs and learning preferences of each individual. Whether online or in person, each session begins with an assessment of the student’s comfort level and proficiency with the topic at hand. This helps me gauge where the student stands and ensures we focus on the right areas.
Next, I introduce an exemplary question—a problem or concept that highlights the core idea of the lesson. This question not only provides motivation for the student but also demonstrates the real-world relevance and importance of the material. I find that this approach makes the content feel less abstract and more meaningful.
In subsequent sessions, we break down the conceptual foundation behind the example in a Socratic seminar-style format. This allows us to engage in a dialogue where the student can explore the topic from multiple angles, asking questions and making connections as they work through the material. My goal is not only to help students arrive at the correct answer but also to encourage critical thinking and foster a deeper understanding of the subject.
By the end of our sessions, students will have developed a solid foundation in the material, combining both conceptual understanding and practical application. They'll improve their problem-solving skills and be better equipped to tackle complex topics with confidence. Additionally, students will be able to approach challenges with a growth mindset, knowing how to turn obstacles into learning opportunities. Ultimately, I aim to help students see the real-world relevance of their studies, making the learning experience feel more engaging and meaningful.

I changed majors this year into Chemical Engineering. I couldn’t wrap my head around my MEB class. Joe was able to help out a lot by presenting the coursework in a different way. Thanks a lot!
I can’t recommend Joe enough for their incredible help with my statistics class! Joe has a real talent for breaking down complex concepts into clear, easy-to-understand explanations. Every session was well-organized and encouraging, which made a huge difference in my confidence and understanding of the material.
I failed calculus my freshman year and retook it. I met Joe in college and he is a really nice guy. Most importantly, he was patient with me. I ended up with a B+! He is worth it! Have recommended him to my friend as well!
Joe was an incredible tutor for my Stats 2 class in undergrad. He explained complex concepts in a way that actually made sense, and he was always patient, prepared, and supportive. What stood out most was how trustworthy and dependable he was—he never missed a session and always followed through. I genuinely felt like he cared about my success, and my grades reflected that. Highly recommend Joe to anyone needing help in statistics!
