About Emma
With eight years of teaching experience, I have helped students of all ages discover the excitement of chess. My background combines years of competitive play with teaching practice, giving me the insight to guide learners at every level, from absolute beginners to advanced competitors. Many of my students have developed not only chess skills but also life skills such as patience, concentration, and problem-solving. I believe chess teaches lessons that extend beyond the board, and I strive to bring these values into every lesson while supporting each learner’s personal goals. My approach is patient, adaptable, and focused on growth. I create a safe space where mistakes become opportunities to learn and progress. With a passion for strategy and teaching, I dedicate myself to helping students uncover their potential and enjoy the beauty of chess as both an art and a science.

For beginners, my lessons start with the fundamentals: how pieces move, opening principles, and recognizing basic tactics. I use simple yet effective exercises that make chess engaging from the start. Each session is designed to build confidence while nurturing curiosity, ensuring learners develop a strong foundation in both theory and practice.
As players progress, I focus on sharpening calculation, improving positional understanding, and practicing common middlegame strategies. I introduce puzzles, annotated games, and practice matches that challenge students to think deeper. By encouraging analysis and reflection, learners start to anticipate moves, understand plans, and make decisions more effectively during play.
For advanced students, lessons emphasize endgame mastery, deep opening preparation, and tournament readiness. I encourage critical thinking, long-term planning, and psychological resilience. By practicing practical scenarios and advanced concepts, students refine their playing style, strengthen consistency, and gain the tools to compete with confidence at higher levels.
