About Miri
I have seven years of teaching experience, working with students of all skill levels, from beginners learning the rules to advanced players preparing for competitions. My approach combines structured instruction with hands-on practice, fostering both technical skill and strategic thinking in a supportive environment. In addition to teaching, I actively study and play chess in tournaments and online competitions. This ongoing engagement allows me to bring current strategies, fresh insights, and practical examples into lessons, helping students connect theoretical concepts to real-world gameplay and develop a deeper understanding of the game. What I value most is helping students build critical thinking, patience, and confidence through chess. Each student’s journey is unique, so I adapt lessons to individual strengths and challenges, celebrating progress along the way while fostering a lifelong appreciation for the game’s complexity and depth.

My lessons begin by establishing a strong foundation in chess fundamentals, including piece movement, board control, and basic tactics. Students practise exercises designed to improve calculation skills, pattern recognition, and positional understanding, providing them with the essential tools to develop confidence in the opening phase of the game. As learners progress, I focus on advanced tactics, middlegame strategies, and planning. By analysing classic grandmaster games and students’ own matches, learners develop critical thinking, foresight, and decision-making skills. This method helps them recognise opportunities, avoid pitfalls, and make strategic choices that enhance their overall game. Endgame mastery is emphasised to help students convert advantages into wins and understand defensive techniques. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s goals, whether tournament preparation, casual play, or competitive improvement. With structured guidance, exercises, and feedback, students grow steadily while enjoying the intellectual challenge of chess.
