About Maya
My teaching approach to Chess focuses on making learning clear and practical. I use real-life examples and case studies to explain important concepts like openings, tactics, strategy, and endgames. This helps students understand how to apply what they learn in actual games. I also include lessons on critical thinking, pattern recognition, and decision-making, which are key skills in chess and useful in everyday life. I believe in being flexible and adapting lessons to each student’s needs and pace. Collaboration is important, so I encourage students to ask questions and work together during lessons. With compassion and patience, I create a supportive environment where students feel confident to explore new ideas and improve their skills. This way, students not only learn chess but also grow their love for the game.

I have 6 years of experience tutoring Chess to high school and college students. During this time, I have helped 150-200 students improve their chess skills and develop a deeper understanding of the game. My goal is to make learning chess enjoyable and accessible for every student, no matter their skill level. I focus on teaching key areas like openings, middlegames, and endgames while encouraging strategic thinking and problem-solving.
My teaching philosophy is based on patience, clear explanations, and building confidence step-by-step. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to fit their needs and pace. I use real-life examples and practical exercises to help students see how chess applies beyond the board. Many of my students have gained success in school tournaments and grown their love for the game, which motivates me to continue sharing my passion for chess.
