About James
I am currently studying for a masters in Clinical Biochemistry, and recently received a First Class Honours Degree in Biochemistry in 2018. I attained 3 A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Geography. I also have 13.5 GCSE's A*-C including Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Maths, English Literature and English Language. I am a new to professional tutoring, however I have experience tutoring fellow students throughout both high school and college.

From personal experience the most effective tuition is student centred, with lessons structured around an individuals basic understanding of a subject and equally their confidence when engaging with that subject; therefore I will attempt to narrow down their target areas by encouraging the student to teach me what they have learned in school and from there identifying gaps in their knowledge - or confidence- that we could work through together. Initially, lessons would be focused on working through the techniques a student is already using to process information/ revise to see if there are ways we could utilise these techniques in a more effective way, or alternatively use the time to try additional learning techniques that might be more effective. Further lessons would begin to conclude in five exam questions that the student would be asked to answer, to show how well they are engaging with the learning and prepare them for any future examinations; however if they are not confident in this method, I would instead conclude the sessions with asking them to recap and teach me everything they had learned that day.
