About Happy

As an accomplished high school senior who has been admitted to numerous top colleges, I have a lot of experience in creative writing, literature, and English tutoring for middle and high school students. Through personal success, I have had firsthand experience identifying what works and will make sure that I create a customized education for each of my students. Over time, I have edited numerous peer essays and acted as a teaching assistant for my English class. Ultimately, through my experience in published creative writing and successful college essays, I am confident that I will guide students in achieving their academic goals.

About the lesson

I'm here to aid in your college application essay journey, whether you are just now putting together a list of schools or have already written the essays and need help finalizing them. As someone who recently went through the college admissions process, I have worked with school-specific admissions counselors to gain a deeper understanding of the types of personal and supplemental essays that need to be written to be a competitive applicant for top schools. I have assisted my peers in getting into competitive schools with competitive programs, and I can help you too!

My typical lesson plans consist of getting to know the students, their backgrounds, and their future goals in order to create a personalized plan that addresses their strengths and weaknesses. Then, we will organize their various essay prompts and create a timeline for the pieces. Together, we will generate a list of ideas, free-write to ensure all of the ideas are written, and go back to revise and edit the essays until they are perfect for submission.

My direct experience in the college application process, my work with peers and students applying to a variety of programs and majors, and my work with an abundance of counselors all help set me apart from the typical college counselor. Additionally, my experience in publishing my creative writing pieces on websites and journals helps me see college essays in a new light.

My lessons are targeted at high school juniors and seniors who are just now going through the college preparation and application process. I work to help students develop their extracurricular descriptions, build their resumes, and solidify their personal statements and supplemental essays—ultimately allowing them to gain an edge against the rest of the applicant pool.
