About Helen
While I have always been a serious student and enjoyed school, I have also always been critical of the way that school is structured and taught. As someone with ADHD, I have had to pay attention to both what is expected of me in the classroom and my own individual learning needs outside of the classroom in order to adapt. There are so many helpful skills and pieces of knowledge that make school manageable for those of us who don't naturally fit in with the typical learning environment. I think because I have had to learn so much about myself and my own learning style in order to succeed in school, I enjoy doing the same with others!

Initially, it's important for me to understand the students' goals, areas of confidence and areas where support is needed. After meeting and building this understanding, I will setup a plan for us to talk it through (and make sure that the goals and touch points are manageable and ideal for the student). As we go, I will get a feel for the student's learning style as well (leaning on my psychology background!) so that lessons can be more and more individualized.
