About Brian
I am an experienced and qualified tutor specialising in Music. With a BA Hons in Music from Sussex University, where I studied under renowned composers Jonathan Harvey, Michael Finnissy, and Martin Butler, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my teaching. I hold a valid DBS certificate (0(concealed information)0), ensuring a safe and professional learning environment. As a creative professional, represented by Alan Brodie Representation, I have extensive experience in composing and Music Directing for theatre, film, and radio. My work includes award-winning musicals, incidental music for stage adaptations, film scores and comedy songs for broadcast. I am also a published columnist and have led multiple award-winning creative projects, including The Foundry Group and The Ornate Johnsons. I offer tailored tutoring sessions in GCSE Music, drawing on my experience as a composer and music teacher to support students in mastering theory, history and composition. I enjoy getting to know each student and adapting my lessons to create a range of fun, interactive and engaging activities. As I have lots of experience in writing collaboratively, I am able to assess the strengths and areas for development for each student, and then provide lots of resources to inspire them in working with me to stretch to their next level. As a Music Director with a BA Hons in Music, I have many years' experience in successfully coaching lots of emerging musicians. I am now extending these skills to KS3 and KS4 students, matching my expertise to the demands of the curriculum and exam requirements.
