About James
I’m passionate about helping people find their voice. Whether that’s a shy Year 6 student speaking up in class for the first time, or an adult learning how to lead with confidence at work. What makes my approach stand out is the blend of experience and empathy I bring. I’ve spent over 10 years leading communication programmes across schools in the UK and boardrooms around the world, but I never lose sight of the individual – their goals, their style, and their potential. I believe communication is a life skill, not just a performance skill and my aim is to make every session empowering, practical, and enjoyable. Outside of tutoring, I’m an ex-elite golfer, a passionate cyclist, and a big believer in the power of mindset and growth.

️ My Approach to Teaching: My lessons are practical, energetic, and tailored to each learner. I focus on building confidence, clarity, and real-world communication skills through interactive exercises, proven frameworks, and constructive feedback. I endeavour to create a safe space to make mistakes, receive feedback and learn. Techniques & Methodology: I use a mix of: - Active learning – students speak often, reflect on feedback, and apply new techniques in real time. - Scenario-based learning – realistic situations (presentations, debates, conflicts) to build transferable skills. - Micro-goal setting – each session has a clear focus, whether it’s improving structure, delivery, or emotional control. - Positive reinforcement – building confidence is as important as building skill. Lesson Format A typical lesson lasts 60-90 minutes, though I also offer 30-minute booster sessions and 120-minute deep dives for more advanced learners or focused prep. Qualifications & Experience I have over 10 years’ experience designing and delivering communication and leadership training in schools, universities, and the workplace. I’ve worked with thousands of students and professionals, from Year 5 pupils to corporate leaders. Who I Teach - Students (Years 5–13): Building communication confidence, preparing for debates, school presentations, or interviews. - Adults: Professionals wanting to improve public speaking, workplace communication, conflict resolution, or interview performance. - All levels welcome – from nervous beginners to confident speakers looking to refine and grow.
