About Glenn
Described as “a brilliant gem,” Glenn’s modern jazz compositions and skilled, interactive playing have been called “a thoughtful, remarkable style,” which “stems from a deeper understanding,” as well as “everything we love about jazz. A beautiful melody. Something we can hold on to.” At a performance at WNYC’s Greene Space, Glenn’s music was described as, “inside this incredibly beautiful and haunting melody, inside your improvisation you were also being a composer . . . beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.” Glenn has performed alongside many notable musicians including Norah Jones, Paul Banks (Interpol), Greg Camp (Smash Mouth), Michael Eisenstein (Melissa Etheridge, Letters to Cleo), Dave Davidson (Revocation, Gargoyl), Sunnyside Records artist Jamie Baum, ECM Records artist Art Lande, and the Four Tops (opening for Chuck Berry). In addition to his own recordings, Glenn can be heard on popular singles that have charted on the College Music Journal, as well as on the soundtrack to Roman J. Israel, Esq. (starring Denzel Washington). Glenn’s recordings, Sacred Machines (OA2 Records), Time in Transit (Armored Records), and Quirk (Armored Records), are featured on radio stations and streaming services internationally. Glenn’s performing and composing are enhanced by his experience as an educator, which has included a full-time faculty position at University of Alaska Fairbanks (saxophone, clarinet, jazz studies) and as a guest artist/clinician at a number of universities and high schools. Glenn is also a recipient of the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, and has served as Director of the UAF Jazz Fest and Curator for the Jazz at the Shabazz summer concert series at the Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center. Glenn lives in New York City, where he performs with his own groups, which have been featured at South by Southwest (twice), East/Northeast Film & Music Festival (twice), Artscape Baltimore, the Big Apple Underground Jazz Festival, and more. His groups have shared billing with Chris Potter’s Underground, the Maynard Ferguson Alumni band, and many other notable artists and groups. Glenn has a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from Arizona State University, a Master of Music in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, and a Master of Science in Applied Analytics from Columbia University.

I’ve known Glenn for about eight years, during which time I have been lucky enough to play in various groups led by him, including a quintet that played mostly his own compositions.
Glenn is an equally gifted and versatile saxophonist and composer. He is also someone who thinks deeply about and who clearly loves music. I have certainly learned quite a bit playing with him as a horn partner, from him as a band leader, and across from him in many conversations about the art form across multiple genres. I have no doubt that any students who studied privately with him would have an equally valuable learning experience.
