I stay mindful of your physical and emotional energy, adapting lessons to include soothing breathwork or stimulating vocal drills when needed. The voice is an intricate instrument that embodies both physical technique and deep emotional storytelling, often rooted in diverse cultural traditions. My teaching philosophy emphasizes Holistic Technique, Emotional Engagement, Inclusivity, and Long-term Development.
Holistic Technique includes breath support, posture, vowel shaping, and vocal agility taught with an emphasis on health and sustainability. I encourage students to develop body awareness and self-monitoring skills to avoid strain and foster freedom of expression. Emotional Engagement is nurtured through exploring the meaning and feeling behind music—whether through improvisation, character study, or personal reflection—helping students bring authentic emotion to their performances. Inclusivity defines my approach, welcoming singers of all backgrounds and skill levels, and celebrating the rich variety of musical genres and cultural expressions they bring.
I work collaboratively with students to select repertoire that resonates personally and culturally. Long-term Development involves setting realistic, motivating goals and creating adaptable practice plans that sustain progress over time. My teaching space is a supportive community where students develop technical excellence, expressive depth, and cultural sensitivity, enabling them to sing with confidence and integrity.
