About PRIYA

What is it to be a GREAT teacher? It is one who never stops learning! I continually educate myself & evolve to stay abreast with new resources to teach people with. I have lived in & traveled/trained students extensively in 3 continents and interacted with diverse cultures -this makes me a great resource for your learning solutions no matter what is your exposure level to Bollywood Pan-India dancing! I keep my service accessible and affordable. With a lifetime experience of 3 decades of teaching, creating for students of all ages and nationalities, many who performed, delighted their friends & families & audiences, and even won competitions, I effectively provide core dance training to students online as well as in person. People from all walks of life feel comfortable with me and gradually progress to achieve their goals, whether their aim is holistic health, refining their performance skills, winning hearts, surprising friends and family or just having a lot of fun and frolic in weekly lessons. I treat each new student with the same care & attention as I did my life's very first student; Whatever level it is, if you are 4 or 74, from basic social party dancing to versatile forms, learning choreography pieces for special occasions, or just getting exercise in the most fun way, I am here to help you along. Styles I cover range across the spectrum of Bollywood: Garba, Bhangra, Bolly-pop, Bolly-hop, even some Latin. I am a trained kathak dancer. Do check out my prolific YouTube library @priyachellani, for samples of above styles with some REAL Student Outcomes. "Experience is GOLD." *I currently serve as official Bollywood DANCE Artist at county schools, & cultural ambassador at local museums & attractions. I am endorsed by my state's best recreational establishments.

About the lesson

For beginners, I start with core dance moves, based on the style they wish to learn. Then launch into step patterns, transitions, combos, and entire pieces, working on their rhythm, coordination, flow, styling & expressions. I have worked with Senior populations as well as people with disabilities. The joy of teaching can't be more felt than when a student says "OMG I never thought I'd be able to do that!" Songs can be your choice or mine- I have a big dance library online (over 400) to choose from! But if you want to try something different, we can always discuss your preferences!:) For more intermediate-advanced learners who wish to take their learning to a higher level, I recommend my 1-on-1 ONLINE class for intensive hi-frequency learning. Greetings! My introduction to the Indigo Dance Academy dates back to 2011 when I was unemployed and accepting any post-production job that came my way. I was fortunate enough to be hired by Priya to convert her collection of VHS tapes into a digital format, and for that, I am grateful.
As time went on, I assisted in filming, capturing, editing, and marketing a plethora of content for Priya between 2012 and 2019. My experience working as a vendor for Priya was highly professional and detail-oriented. While some individuals excel as artists, others possess the skills necessary to communicate a project's concept effectively.
Having observed Priya interact with numerous parents and students while teaching the crossroads of Indian classical and Indian Bollywood-focused music and dance to groups of students ranging from four-year-olds to senior women in the Research Triangle Park area (spanning from Greensboro to Wilmington, North Carolina), I can attest to her unwavering dedication to her schools in Morrisville and Raleigh, North Carolina.
