About Amira
My name is Amira Sadiq, I'm from Leeds, England. I have five years of teaching experience and personally I recommend teaching using the direct method. Most Turkish people have the same problem, they know the grammar, but they have little to no speaking skills. I have met people who graduated from English Literature and can not speak a word of English! This is why I recommend the Direct Method, because it makes you speak English and learn to speak English the same way a newborn baby learns a language. By repeating, remembering, and of course practising. Every lesson is two hours long with one small break in the middle. During the lesson we use Callan method books, which are provided by me, and we use NO TURKISH during the lesson except for the occasional word translation when there is new vocabulary. The Callan method consists of questions and answers, I will ask the questions and the student will answer. While the student answers, I will correct any grammar or pronunciation mistakes made, and the student will repeat the sentence correctly. With lots of practice and repetition, my students are able to begin putting sentences together more more fluently and quickly.
