About Alicia

○ Since 2018 I have been teaching French, English and Norwegian, and I currently have more than 2500 hours of private lessons to my credit, the majority of which are online, from 8 to 67 years old!

○ Having graduated with a Master's degree in teaching foreign languages from the University of Poitiers, I decided not to take the national education competition because I am unfortunately only too aware of its flaws.
On the contrary, I teach private lessons (or in small groups) in order to provide support adapted to the needs and pace of each learner, in a framework of trust and kindness, regardless of age.

○ I lived and studied in France and Norway; then I worked as a French teacher in the Netherlands (European School) and in Spain, in middle schools/high schools.

○ I myself have learned several languages (English, Spanish, Norwegian and now Italian). Thus, by combining my diplomas, my personal and professional experience, I have helped dozens of students from primary school to post-baccalaureate, as well as adults, to learn or strengthen their knowledge of English.

○ Among all these languages, English has always been my heart language (I started learning it in kindergarten!) and I have been practicing it daily for many years now.

○ As part of tutoring, I first scan my learner's knowledge with the aim of repairing and/or strengthening it. You can't build anything when you build on shaky foundations. Of course, I also help my learner understand and apply the lessons that are seen at school. And finally, I try as much as possible to use our time together to make him do what he lacks the most: practice.

○ My interests are:
Books, travel, psychology, spirituality, animals and nature, vegetarianism/veganism, drawing, painting and crafts, astrology, personal development, board games and card games, dance, hiking, mountains… Overall, I am someone who is curious and open-minded, no matter the subject!

English

Your English is rusty, or even completely gone, but you've decided to get back to it for real? Maybe you're afraid of missing out on a professional opportunity or making a fool of yourself every time you have to speak?
Do you have English classes at school but you are not completely satisfied? Maybe because you feel some difficulties or, on the contrary, because you love this language and are thirsty to learn more?

► Look no further, if you're over 8, you're in the RIGHT place!

☼ I offer you English lessons that will allow you to develop automatisms, and therefore make your communication more effective and fluid, no matter your ultimate goal.

/!\ Tested and approved by many learners and inspired by neuroscience, my method may however require you to question your knowledge and your way of learning a little.
It's not rocket science, but it requires real involvement and openness on your part. And you have a lot to gain from it.

→ Why me? ←
☼ Because being a non-native English speaker myself, I have encountered exactly the same difficulties as you. Not only do I therefore perfectly understand the obstacles you are facing, but as a bonus, thanks to my background (school, university, personal and professional) I know how to anticipate them and help you overcome them.
☼ Because I am well aware that (re)taking classes after school, or even years later, can be stressful and even bring back old and bad memories. On the contrary, I want you to have a pleasant time, in a relaxed and reassuring setting. My goal is for your English classes to no longer be a constraint, but a leisure activity!
☼ Because with my approach to teaching, you will not only learn English. You will learn how to learn effectively, which will give you greater autonomy as well as know-how that can be used in many other areas/school subjects!

► A preview of what you can expect:
1- Active learning as I'll be your guide, but YOU'LL be the main character in your learning process. Like in a video game, you will have to rack your brains to find clues and make hypotheses, through which I will guide you to solve the riddles of English.
2- Talk, from the first day, and talk again.
3- Use your knowledge in games and fun activities and have a good time because that's how you learn best.
4- Learn, a lot, and gain confidence in your ability to communicate in English.

☼ One problem, one solution:
► Having learned 3 languages fluently, I know the frustration that learning them can cause! Especially when you don't know how to go about it effectively... You don't know where to start, so you feel you're stagnating, so you compare yourself, so you lose self-confidence, so you don't dare practice, so you give up and you're back to zero and you've just lost time but your English hasn't budged.

► So what are the “solutions” to avoid?
→ Have you thought about hiring a student? Sure, you'll pay less per hour, but you'll also make slower progress because you won't benefit from years of experience and optimization of private tutoring, and so in the end you risk paying as much or even more.
→ Furthermore, learning through practicing English is not the same as simply practicing English, and it is a fine nuance that is acquired with experience.
→ It is for these reasons that I offer you my services: because I know the value of what I have to bring to you ;)

☼ The results:
Over the years of private lessons, all my students have gained confidence in their ability to communicate in English and have acquired solid knowledge that they can and know how to rely on in case of doubt. In other words, they have gained autonomy and this has allowed them to space out or even stop our sessions altogether!

☼ You too can benefit from my help and keep your professional horizons open by becoming independant in English! So don't wait any longer: my method will allow you to progress quickly... but only if you get started.

► In any case, contact me and I will be happy to answer you and organize our first meeting.
See you soon !
