About Laura
I am a teacher of 14 years, working primarily with students in Kindergarten, but have taught first grade, as well as worked alongside 2nd and 3rd graders for clubs and tutoring. I have taught in Charter schools as well as public school environments and one thing I find the same regardless of environment, is the need to support our littlest learners! I am not just a teacher but also a mother of 3! As a parent you don’t want to watch your child struggle, but you also might not have the time or energy to help at the end of your work day. Or maybe you are unsure of how to help. That’s where I can assist! With my flexible scheduling we can create a schedule that works for you!

My lesson would be for early childhood students (K-3). I like to use a guided practice and hands on approach to share my working knowledge for my students to learn foundational steps to problem solving. A tutoring lesson would include warm up problems to get the mind started and to see how they are progressing through skills previously practiced. The main portion of the time would be to practice the skill of concern during that session. This could be skills they have struggled with in the past and are still struggling with or a skill they are currently working on in school. During our lesson informative and formative assessments can be given to assess levels of understanding. Parent communication is essential to ensure that what we work on during our lesson, is what they feel is necessary to their child’s areas of need!
