About Alyssa
I have been in education for over ten years in a variety of contexts - from teaching 4th grade in Birmingham, AL to teaching English in Niort, France - and tutoring has always been one of my favorite ways to connect individually with students and ensure their success.

Literacy should be FUN - and I do my best to make that happen.
Whether it's revisiting, re-writing, or proofing college essays or simply revisiting some missed literacy and reading skills, I strive to get to know the person I am tutoring on a personal level so that I can take your interests, passions, and fears into consideration when preparing lessons.
I am an elementary teacher, so basic reading skills are part of my bread and butter, but I have a special passion for helping older students and adults with proofing and improving essays. I also love handwriting and am always excited to share the joy of fine motor skills with anyone seeking to improve their handwriting or learn cursive!
A lesson starts with some fun get-to-know you moments and then dives in with connected literature, practice, or proofing, depending on your need. We'll highlight your strengths while working on your weaknesses - everyone can be successful.
